Our corner of Phuket
KĀHLĪ sits in Cherngtalay, on the calm, green north-west coast between Layan and Bang Tao. This is the island most visitors never see: long, uncrowded beaches, good schools and easy everyday life, ten minutes from the sand.
Phuket without the crowds
Most people picture Phuket as the south: the neon of Patong, the crowds at Kata and Karon. KĀHLĪ is on the other side of the island. Cherngtalay is a quiet, leafy district on the central-west coast, the part of Phuket that expats and families quietly move to, and stay. Long casuarina-lined beaches, proper supermarkets, international schools and beach clubs, all within a few minutes of home, and the airport only about twenty-five minutes away.
This is where we are
KĀHLĪ from above, between the hills and the Andaman. Cherngtalay sits just behind Bang Tao and Layan, minutes from the coast and the everyday life of Boat Avenue.
The calm end of the coast
Four beaches sit within easy reach, and they are the quiet ones, a world away from the busy sands down south.
Bang Tao
One of the island’s longest beaches, a casuarina-shaded arc of soft sand. Relaxed and spacious, with the Laguna resorts and the beach clubs strung along it.
On the map ↗Layan
The quiet northern end of Bang Tao. Soft white sand, far less developed, and a local and family favourite for its slower pace.
On the map ↗Surin
Just south beyond the headland. Fine sand and good swimming in season, with a slightly more built-up, resort feel.
On the map ↗Nai Thon
Further north, secluded and low-rise, with no big resorts. A quiet swimming beach the locals rather keep to themselves.

The long, casuarina-lined sweep of Bang Tao, and the quieter reaches of Layan just to the north.
Everything close by
This is a corner you can genuinely live in, not just holiday in. The lifestyle hubs, the supermarkets and the beach clubs are all a few minutes from the hillside.
Boat Avenue
An open-air lifestyle village in the heart of Cherngtalay: boutiques, dozens of restaurants, a Villa Market, and a lively Friday night market.
On the map ↗Porto de Phuket
Next door, anchored by a Tops gourmet food hall, with more dining and everyday shopping under one roof.
On the map ↗Central Phuket
The island’s flagship mall, about twenty minutes towards Phuket Town when you want the full department-store run.
On the map ↗The beach clubs
Along Bang Tao, the beach-club strip: Catch, Xana, the new RAVA at Banyan Tree, Casuarina at Dusit Thani and Nomad at SAii.

The Bang Tao beach-club strip is a short drive down the coast, and Yona, the world’s first floating beach club, is a short charter beyond.
The school-run corner of Phuket
Cherngtalay has quietly become the centre of international schooling on the island, and it is still growing. Two of Phuket’s biggest new schools are landing right here.
